Friday Morning Conversations

We went out to an up & coming little wine bar with the Luces last night - I say "up & coming" because it's not quite there, but we know of a big change that's taking place very soon that should pick things up...but it shall remain nameless for now. Anyway, as always, we had a great time & even ended up winning (yes, I said winning) some free wine. You see, there was a wine challenge thing, & I placed first, Doug & Lucy tied for second, & Mr. Luce came in third! That's because of how cool we are & the fact that we're all so very smart. Heh. Yeah, we're smart, alright...we didn't get to bed until 11:00. For people like me & Doug that get up at 4-freakin'-30 a.m., that's just downright dumb. Oh well.

Both of us were tired & unmotivated this morning. I did a little laundry the other day, but not enough, so my wardrobe choices were rather limited. My closet didn't have anything that I felt like wearing, so I fished around in the dryer & found one of my favorite work tops. (Yes, I have work clothes that are for work only. I don't know why.)

Me: "I think I wore this pink sweater on Monday. I think I don't care."
Doug: "Apathy can be very liberating."

Doug's right. I'm wearing the pink sweater.

I was sitting at my desk this morning, nursing my ever-essential coffee, when one of my pals walked by.

My Pal: "Hey. Happy Friday! You're looking exceptionally...tired today."
Me: "Yeah. Did your kid do your hair this morning? That's quite a look you've got going there."

(As an aside, I'm pretty tight with this guy & this kind of banter goes on a lot.)

My Pal: "Ha! No, I only slept for 2 hours last night."
Me: "Huh. What the hell's up with that?"
My Pal: "Work. It's killing me."
Me: "Ambition will do that to you, my friend. You should try apathy...it's quite liberating."

Ladies & gentleman, my husband, the philosopher.

Doug does rock! I might just make that my personal mantra.

We had fun last night and are also TIRED today. Neither one of us could drag ourselves out of bed to exercise. The whippets were most displeased. Thank goodness the dog walker comes today.

If you're talking about "Apathy is liberating", then I think that makes an awesome mantra!

If you're talking about "Doug rocks", then that's more of a fact...=)

Bah, exercise was, as always, not even an in the plan for the morning, but if it had been, it wouldn't have happened!!

I did indeed mean "apathy is liberating", but I'm fond of all Dougs so that works too :)

We should have t-shirts made.

You should have t-shirts made, indeed. A friend of mine keeps on quoting back my witty banter, suggesting we get t-shirts made. So far we have:
"I am only one person"
"I'm not your bitch, bitch" (not original)
"And that has WHAT to do with me?"
I think yours would fit right in... what do you say? t-shirts all around?

Hey... nice new fancy blog list in which I am firmly ensconced : )

Thom, it just wouldn't be any page of mine without you on it! And I agree that "Apathy can be very liberating" fits perfectly. I'm sure Doug would prefer "Doug rocks", but I don't think the sales would be as nice. (Shh, don't tell him.)

OMG, I just found another candidate for a t-shirt! I was updating my profile, clicked on the hyperlink to see if anyone had the same occupation and there it was - "and your cry baby whiny butt opion would be?" I love it...

I love it, too!! T-shirts, bumper stickers, etc., we could be looking at a gold mine here.

Ok, maybe not.

I'm considering using Doug's philosophical musing as a quote of the week.

Oh, Bombshelle! You should, he's quite brilliant...& RIGHT. =)

Claire,
We also like to stop in wine country in the states we visit. We've been to wineries in Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, New Mexico, besides the obvious California. I have visited Texas wine country as well. It's very pretty, and there are some good wines to be had.

We're headed to the wine country outside of Portland this weekend. :) Can't wait!
